SJMC Women

Our Purpose: We provide a place for the women (all ages) of SJMC to promote spiritual growth, to nurture women's gifts and skills, to build relationships, and to support mission outreach. We seek to be a welcoming and caring group, centered in Jesus Christ and to demonstrate God's love in our neighbourhood and around the world.

We welcome all women at SJMC to join us!
Friends from our surrounding communities are always warmly invited to all events!

Meeting Times: We meet in the Gathering Room for fellowship and service work:

The second Tuesday of every month (except August)
9:00am until 4:00pm (for some, a full day doesn't work, so we encourage whatever time on can offer)
11:15am - Devotions
Noon - Bag Lunch

Our Main Activities Are:

- Knotting comforters for Mennonite Central Committee (MCC) relief work throughout the world.
- Quilting for the Ontario Mennonite Relief Sale in New Hamburg each May.
- We regularly donate quilts to some local fundraisers.
- We have one "Knotty Night" for the whole congregation. Men, youth and children are invited to tie comforters.
- We provide comforters for the St. Jacobs community Vacation Bible School in summer, which the children complete.
- In May we host our annual "Quilts for the World" quilt show, which raises significant funds for MCC. This is a project that requires lots of help. We are grateful for the many willing hands of the congregation, which help make this event a success.
- We plan a few special events during the year to include women who don't attend our meetings reularly.
- Prayer Shawl Ministry: All are welcome to join the SJMC Prayer Shawl Ministry to knit or crochet. We meet in the basement on Tuesday evenings from 7:00 - 8:30pm (except the second Tuesday of each month). (See website calendar for exact dates).
