Missions Facilitations Ministry
Micah 6:8
8 He has showed you, O people, what is good.
And what does the Lord require of you?
To act justly and to love mercy
and to walk humbly with your God.
The goal of Missions Facilitation is to keep our call to be a People of Mission in front of Leadership Council and to facilitate mission related activity in our congregation.
Mission is understood in a broad sense including:
- grateful service to others
- the promotion of peace and justice
- care for all of God’s creation, our environment
- outreach to those outside our church community
- church growth.
The Missions Facilitation committee is to stir things up and get things happening, not to “do mission” on behalf of the congregation.
It’s exciting to see mission as being integrated into other aspects of congregational life and our relationship to God. We reach out to be strong within our church home base, and that strength at home enables us to better reach out, so this forms a circular, mutually nurturing relationship. It means that by supporting one area in the church, we are supporting the whole, and it means that we cannot ignore one area without hurting the whole. This “big picture” concept is part of what guides us and gives us strong direction.
Even stronger in our guidance is the direction we receive from God and from scripture. Ultimately, it is our faith in God and our wish to live as Jesus’ disciples that feed our drive to perform missional work.
